僑務委員會海外華裔青年語文研習班(第二期) O.C.A.C LANGUAGE STUDY PROGRAM FOR EXPATRIATE YOUTH2017 O.C.A.C. 2nd Term Language Study Program specially designed for the age group of 18th to 24th years old young adults. University of Shih Chien (USC), the world’s renowned design institution is honored to organize this year’s program. USC is conveniently located in Taipei Center. International Affairs Chinese Language Center excels in an array of summer camps and event design.
During O.C.A.C’s Study Program, the curriculum are instructed by USC and Ministry of Education certified Chinese Language Center instructors. The program content is organized according to student’s Chinese level. For this year’s program, we are offering different elective Chinese courses from the past. Elective courses improves Overseas Chinese’s language in their social skills and future career path. Beside Chinese courses, we arrange a diverse culture event.
University of Shih Chien started recruiting program assistants six months ago in order to train qualified program assistants. The program not only create a memorable language experience and interpersonal relationships exchange among a diverse Overseas Chinese in a beautiful reminiscence.

A3: 未成年學員須有家長同意書才能外宿。未成年者更需由家長指 定之在台親友才能帶離。 有些學員在台親友眾多，本校僅能 就外宿同意書中家長填寫之親友交付其帶出，對於不在名單之 親友礙難帶離， 惟在台親友需攜帶證件以資查驗，尚請見 諒！
A10: 學員住宿本校學舍環山館，學員除特殊需求，不得要求住宿 地點。原則上4 人一間，寢室提供空調、寢具（枕頭、涼 被、床墊、床單）、書桌椅、衣櫥等設備。
|Q1: Can you check in or check out earlier?|
A1: Yes, you can check in a day earlier with an additional fee NTD$350 per night.
Q2: Could we pay the program fee by other methods instead of paying in cash on the registration day?
A2: No, you can only pay the program fee in cash on the registration day.(No credit card)
Q3: Does student need a parental approval agreement for staying outside of the dorm?
A3: Underage student (under 20 years old) requires parental approval agreement. Parent needs to specify the student’s Taiwan guardian.
Q4. How much should student bring during the program?
A4. The program includes certain meals and dormitory. Depending on student’s personal spending habits, living expense average to NT$8,000 to 10,000/ per month. We suggest having enough cash before the program begins. Please be responsible for personal belongings and cash.
Q5: Do USC CLC provide remittance service?
A5: No, Please take care of personal remittance at Taoyuan Airport Remittance Office.
Q6: How are student going to protect their belongings?
A6: Students should mark their personal belongings. School Security can than refer to their name tags on their lost belongings.
Q7: Can you tell me more about student insurance?
A7: During the program, University of Shih Chien insures NT$4,000,000 Accidental Insurance and NT$400,000 Hospital Insurance.
Q8: What is the dress code for students?
A8: Taiwan’s summer weather is humid between 28-35 celsius. Please pack for summer climate. Students are not allow to wear flip flops during class time.
Q9. Can student smoke or drink in the dormitory?
A9. According to USC and R.O.C. regulations, smoking and drinking are prohibited. Minors will be suspended if caught buying drink or cigarette.
Q10. How is the dormitory?
A10. Student lives in efficient casual Taiwanese dormitory. The dormitory is located in Huan Shan location. Unless otherwise student’s specification, student will stay in USC dormitory. Four students in a dormitory. Dormitory includes air conditioner and furnitures ( pillow, blanket, bed frame,bed), study desk, and closet.
Q11. How is student’s dormitory shower?
A11. Dormitory provides showers. female and male students are separated in two different floors. Student needs a a card to enter dormitory.
Q12. Can we use the wifi in the campus?
A12. Yes, you will get an account and password for internet access on campus. In the dorm, there is wifi connection. However, USC CLC recommend registering a 30 days 4G intrnet plan.
HOW TO APPLY?
(Domestic applications will not be accepted.)
a. Initial screening: submit the application form and enclose the following items: three passport photos and a health
certificate (the form is provided by the OCAC). Applications lacking laboratory test results will not be processed. Please apply through Taiwan’s overseas Representative Offices, or Cultural Centers of OCAC, both of which will administer initial screening. If the application is not approved by the local office or center, it will not be processed.
b. Final screening: final screening will be undertaken by the OCAC. A letter of admission to the program will be 3 issued if requirements are fulfilled.
c. Application period: Applications may be submitted six months prior to the starting date of the class until all vacancies are filled.
d. Entry visa: please apply for the entry visa to Taiwan at its overseas Representative Offices upon presentation of the letter of admission to the program.
e. Should there be less than 20 enrolled attendants in the classes one month before the activity begin, the Sponsor has
the right to cancel it and will inform the attendants. The payments already made such as airline tickets will not be reimbursed by the Sponsor.
Date: the registration date will be printed on the letter of admission. Applicants who cannot register on the specified
date must notify the OCAC via the local representative office or cultural center beforehand. Maximum postponement of registration is 3 days. Applicants of continued study who cannot register on time must inform the Center of their absence in advance.
b. Registration location will be specified on the letter of admission issued by the OCAC.
c. Upon registration, students must present their letter of admission and pay the tuition fee. Passports should be
submitted to the center for safekeeping. Student ID cards, program handbooks and dormitory assignments will then
d. Tuition fee: the total fee for each student is NT$48,000 per term (6 weeks). The fee is shared between the student and the OCAC as follows:
- The student will pay NT$24,000 per term (6 weeks), which covers meals, accommodations and insurance.
- The OCAC will pay NT$24,000 per term (6 weeks) for each student, which covers teachers’ salary, textbooks, handouts, trips and excursions, as well as administrative and accommodation/catering fee.
e. The students are required to pay the tuition to the language center on the registration date and there is no refund in any situation.
